It Begins...

Fish Springs Wildlife Refuge

I have an internship at Fish Springs Wildlife Refuge.  I have done bird surveys, water testing, GIS, and lots and lots of training of all sorts!  Basically I'm having an adventure!

This is what Fish Springs looks like.

The majority of the fish at FISH springs consist of these two, Utah Chub (the bigger one) and Mosquito Fish (the smaller one in the picture).

This is the bunkhouse where I am currently living.  :)

There is a research project going on to see if Fish Springs has enough Snowy Plovers to make them a management priority.   I took this picture while going birding with my Dad.  We were trying to record these funny little birds.

Some of Fish Springs wildlife.  ^_^

Western King Bird posing for a picture.

Common Night Hawk.  I was in the car when this guy was spotted.  It's a real treat to see them in the day time.  Usually they are unseen on the tree branches.

Coyotes are frequently seen on the refuge.  This one looks as if he just had a swim in one of the ponds!  I have really come to enjoy seeing these guys.  ^_^

Then there is Fish Springs in all its glory...
