Tramping through Canyon Lands

This summer I spent a few days in Canyon Lands.  I helped a researcher find Mexican Spotted Owls.  We back packed 9 miles all together through Elephant canyon.  We found a pair of Owls by listening for their calls.  We heard them and then saw their outline as they flew through the sky.  The female shrieked at us while the male hooted loudly.  Their calls sent shivers through my body.  Its such an amazing experience for me when ever I encounter owls.  The pair of Owls grew tired of us and flew off into the distance.  We then hiked back to camp in the dark.

The next few days I spent helping my dad locate frogs and toads to record for his project, Soundscapes for Birders.  I found a few tad polls in a small pond.  They looked quite ridiculous.  :)

Over all it was a great experience and a whole lot of fun!  ^_^
